The first implementation (1991) of the Iconclass2000 Browser linked to
a database of text and images, was this CD-ROM of "Dutch Printer’s
Devices" (1540-1700). With illustrations of ca.1000 Dutch printer’s
devices, from the holdings of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (The Hague).
This proto-type of a database with the complete Iconclass Browser integrated,
was a pilot project "Pictorial information systems in the Humanities".
In it participated the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (The Hague), the NBBI (Nederlands
Bureau voor Bibliotheekwezen en Informatieverzorging), and the Department
of Computers & Humanities (from 2000: Institute of Information and
Computing Sciences) of Utrecht University. The CD-ROM was distributed
in a limited edition, and is not for sale. Copies can be consulted in
most of the Dutch University Libraries.
