We have discovered that in some special cases the installation of
the Iconclass2000 Browser finishes with an error message and what is worse with
a non-functioning Browser. The same error state can occur after installation of
a new Web Browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer): the Iconclass2000 Browser crashes at startup.
The error is caused (in some special cases) by a
misinterpretation of your system’s capabilities to access the Internet, to be
more precise to access the ICONCLASS Website. This facility is part of the
present Browser version. We very much regret that this feature turns out to be a
bug in some special cases.
The problem is known to have occurred in Browser versions: 1.00 and 1.01.
These have been distributed to users that have licence numbers in the range of:
#9800010 – #9800420
After a failing installation there are two solutions to solve the problem:
Owners of a LAN version that have the Browsers’ installation software and
data distributed from the harddisk of a local network server, can download a new setup version
from the ICONCLASS website. Replace the malfunctioning
copy on harddisk with the downloaded setup. Download new setup
version (~5Mb)
New versions of the distribution CD-ROM will hold the corrected version of
the software.
